Why is it so hard to comprehend that the OLM is designed to get most of the engines through the warranty, and not actual longevity?  5k miles max on full synthetic, which on mine come to 60-65%.  Otherwise, reap the consequences.

You are completely full of crap.  I have a UOA done every other oil change.  I change my oil when the OLM is a t 10% - 15%.  My UOA's are freaking spot on!  Blackstone has recommended I can go to 8500 miles if I wanted to.  I don't, but the oil is still performing perfectly.

Took my 2017 Chevy Silverado z71 to the dealer today . Engine was ticking on top end sounded like a lifter tick and slight deeper knock in bottom end . oil presure was all over the place would go from 65 psi to 25 psi at same rpm. I have 44,000 miles. Has anyone else had this issue?  With the strike in play who know how long I will be without my truck.


Swap out your oil filter with a Napa Gold and see if you’re still having this issue

I wouldn’t bring up oil in these forums unless you can deal with actual proof, Amsoil and Redline are the best in engine performance but as long as you’re using a really good oil and changing it inside 4K miles along with a great synthetic oil filter like Napa Gold for short intervals or Wix XP for longer intervals (both capture as small as 20-21 microns) you’ll be good. It’s what goes on between and during the oil changes that matters.

To the OP, too bad about your bad luck there.  Hope you are able to get your truck fixed as good or better than new soon!  As I've been saying, even great maintenance cannot always make up for bad parts.

One more tid bit... I have my oil changes done at the dealer with their bulk oil and GM filter.  

I am NOT trying to start another oil war!

Okidoki, let’s agree to cut the talk about which oil or oil intervals, not going to get anywhere but argumentative. I recommended changing his oil filter out for a Napa Gold in hopes to help with his oil pressure. I’ve heard people having issues with that crap cardboard factory filter either clogging up or breaking apart.

Dude had a lifter collapse per a few posts up.  No oil could have prevented an AFM lifter failure.  Luck of the draw.  VLOM solenoid failure, oil aeration, faulty lifter, etc.  Shite happens.  Low miles, high miles.  Some never have an issue, like the farmer with 150k we have who idles all day long, lets it run past 0% and uses our GM bulk Dexos oil.      

 

All I see in here is a giant Amsoil brigade ??? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Lots of people enjoy high quality products with exceptional results while others just get by. You’re correct, luck of the draw, when it happens it happens but most happens to the purchasers of used vehicles that have no idea about past maintenance. Whether you use Amsoil or not, good maintenance is a must with anything with moving parts, especially AFM equipped vehicles.

GM strike, my local shop has a truck waiting on a bearing as well.  Won't see them until the strikes done.

      I have a 2022 trail boss lt that has about 6100 mile on it now. Bought it brand new in may 2022 and it seems like the drivers seat leans to the left towards the door. Almost feels like Im gonna fall out of it and no matter how I adjust it it seems the same. Visually it looks like it sits level and is fine. Is it possible something is broken inside like the frame? I would assume the frame would have to be sturdy. Is there any place that sell a better bottom cushion?

      My l84 5.3 cracked some pistons now thinking of doing a light hone but wanted to know if it would even save the engine ? The scratches are pretty light my nail doesn’t get stuck but I do feel em. The pours on the other hand I’m not sure what could have caused those little things ?

      Hello all, My Sway bar was hitting my CV axle, as the title says. So I crawled under some trucks at the dealer to see what stock trucks are like and it turns out that the new TB/AT4's have longer end links then my 2020 TB. The new end link has a 3 inch rod vs the 1-3/4 inch OE part.
       
      The part number for the longer end link is P/N:85590925

      I have a 2020 RST with the 3.0 LM2 Duramax with 79k miles… the flywheel failed when I was driving down the highway and left me dead in the water.. I had it towed to the dealership 4 weeks ago and they called today and said the transmission and the engine needs to be replaced. Has anyone experienced this with their trucks? I never towed anything heavy and was religious with service.. luckily all covered under the 100k powertrain warranty…

      Okay so I broke my foot a last month so my truck has been sitting during the winter. Just recently the check engine light has came on. 
       
      I used my code reader and is said the thermostat was running cold. 
       
      And the engine fan automatically comes on and stays on for a little even after I turn the truck off. 
       
      My question is there a simple fix to this? Or would this require a replacement?
