Heater Blower Motor Not Working

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 and the blower motor stopped working.     Does not work on any speed,  but when I pull the blower out and connect it directly to a battery, it runs fine.  On the test bench, connected to a 12 volt battery, the blower runs smooth, fast, and quiet.

I used a meter to check the terminals (14 gauge red/black wires) feeding the motor and I have 12 volts on all speeds, but when its plugged into the motor, the motor does not run.

When I flip the fan speed switch, I can hear a click come from the heater resistor board.

Any ideas?

Thank  you,

I would suggest physically removing the resistor pack and examining it as well as the wiring harness connector & wires to it, as GM seems to have spec'ed connectors that are just barely good enough for the power going through them.  It's not unusual to need to replace the connector because it's burnt.
