LS motors are GEN-III and GEN-IV small block GM motors.  The L83/L86 are GEN-V motors, or "LT" motors.  Evolution of the design but they are different with many parts not interchanging (where they would interchange between GEN-III and GEN-IV).

Those used ones are awful deals.  Spending a couple grand more on a new one is nothing.  Full warranty and better interest rate helps and the fact it is worth more.

I am not sure if I mentioned this yet but the 2017 GMC Sierra has a two year warranty or until it gets to 48,000 miles. I highly doubt I will put 33,000 miles on it during that time so that means I will at least have warranty until late 2021. Also it is a GM warranty and not from the dealership, which I much favor.

I got them to come down more on the 2017 GMC Sierra to around $27,000 and the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado is $30,500. They said there is little room to move on the Silverado. The major difference between the two is the Sierra has a 5.3 V8 over the Silverado which is a 4.3 V6. Also the GMC has as sprayed in bed liner and bed cover. The bed cover and liner are not that expensive though, but definitely something I am going to need to add to the Silverado.

I heard the main thing with the EcoTec3 (and other EcoTec's) is to simply make certain you change the oil when you are suppose to and use a quality full synthetic. Which I have always done on my truck anyway.

Oh crap here we go

LOL...    This forum is not a great place to get financial advice!  There are some good negotiators on site that offer some good strategies!  I like to be close to settling on a price before talking finance.   When you have payments/amortization on the table you quickly lose sight of the bottom line.
