Traded in my 19 and got 20. My thoughts.

I just traded in my 2019 RST (had it for 5 months) and got an identical 2020.  For anyone wanting to know if any changes, the only thing I have noticed so far is:

1. battery gauge is different

2. "mode" dial on left side of dash has an additional mode now (before was sport and tow. Now it has sport, tow and off road)

3. I lost the outside unlock button on both back doors

4. stereo display seems quite a bit nicer (now displays more things like music album cover)

I also opted for GPS and leather this time and am very happy with both of these upgrades as well.  Maybe its just me, but this 20 does seem to drive softer.  I'll report back later and maybe its just in my head.

Does it have off road mode because you no longer have a two speed transfer case?

Off-Road mode in addition to Terrain mode?

Does yours have the new transmission fluid in it?

According to the dealership yes. And the clunk does not sounds like a drive terrain nosie. If I have to guess I would say suspensions or dashboard. Have not seen another member on here with similar problem. But maybe I am too sensitive (didn't hear them in my previous truck tho)

Realized you meant OUTSIDE door handle button, not inside.

Sorry guys, I was at work. I only traded in my 19 because my friend works for GM and they offered me direct swap (I didnt pay a penny to change). I LOVED my 19 but why not get a 20 with zero kms on it and get rid of my 19 that had 20,000 kms on it.  I still do have 2 speed transfer case and the seats feel the same to me, other than this one has leather.  There were only small changes, but I liked all of them other then the two rear doors not having the unlock.  I would have kept my 19 in a second and loved ever bit of it. I never had a single problem and it was built in feb of 2019. These are really good trucks and Ive had them all. I just wish they would update the interior a lot.  The new Dodge inside is amazing inside, but I think the outside is ugly and I hated having coil suspension.

Off road mode isn’t tied to the transfer case. The 19 and 20 have the same availability as far as single and two speed transfer cases, under the same (Z71/X31/6.2)  packages.

19s with the “digital” cluster have off road mode as well. Since they have this extra mode, the dial was totally unlabeled on these trucks, making it hard for me to initially remember which direction to turn it for tow/haul...?

19s with the midlevel cluster didn’t have the off road mode, so they got a dial that was labeled tow/haul on one side, sport on the other...

2019 w/ uplevel cluster, unlabeled dial of stupidity

Now, all 2020 trucks share the same dial and drive mode features regardless of having mid or uplevel cluster. And thankfully, the dial is labeled sensibly! Drive modes turn to the right, tow to the left.

Voltage range labeling on the cluster was another thing I spotted right away. This has to be because so many people are not accustomed to how these trucks manage the battery. People get anxious when the needle isn’t right at 14, so maybe giving bigger “range boxes” on the gauge will help ease their minds?

It’s the little things, isn’t it? I’m done nerd-ing up the thread now.

I’ve only used it a couple times, don’t like it, don’t need it. It raises the shift points a little, hold gears longer, engine braking is more pronounced at lower speeds, and the throttle response seems a bit “blunted”/ more lazy. I guess all of these might be beneficial off road but in the daily grind it’s not a great mode to use.

That is strange because my 2019 had the exact same digital instrument cluster that my 2020 does, but my 2019 only had tow and sport mode, and now my 2020 has the added off road one.  My 2 clusters are identical

By “digital“ I mean the one with the larger DIC that has the 4 “digital gauges“ in the center instead of the analog dials. That cluster is standard on High Country and optional on LTZ, so being an RST, you’d have the midlevel one with the smaller (but still color) DIC.

For whatever reason, in 2019, the additional drive mode (off road) was limited to only trucks with the high end cluster (LTZ/HC/AT4/Denali)....
