No more tailpipe vents

When it’s 62° in the middle of January in northeast Pennsylvania I took a vantage of the weather and decided to cover up the exhaust vents on my ‘19 trail boss. I ordered a set of Evil Energy 2 1/2” stainless steel butt clamps from Amazon and clamped them. I know there are cheaper options and more complicated also, but they look good and were easy to install. What are your thoughts?

Now fix your flapper valve open, and you'll have a much nicer exhaust note.

Many of us have covered these screens for a long time. See below:

Borla XR1 muffler, pipe, and adapters are all in the garage. Just having an issue finding someone to weld stainless in the area. Hoping to find someone this week.

Doesn't take anything special to weld on a muffler whether stainless/stainless or steel/stainless.

Does this change the tone? And if so no chance that you have a before and after sound clip?

What’s with these exhaust screens? Purpose?

Are these specific to Chevy cause I looked and my 19 Sierra does not have them. Just the flapper thing.

They perform the same function of a resonator I believe.  Just cheaper and more simple I guess.  You can feel exhaust coming out of the screens at idle which would explain the need for the heat shields.

So I covered mine today with exhaust clamps. Not much of a difference in tone but it prob jumped up a few decibels.

I'm going to try pinning the flapper valve open for a few days on mine and see how that sounds.  May have that section of pipe replaced if I like it.

I stand corrected. I was looking in the wrong location. I do have those vents.
