WTF is this sound that only happens when its cold???

Recommended Posts

I have some fairly gnarly speed bumps at my complex and recently in SoCal its been about 39-42* in the morning and every bump i hit around 3-5mph i get this horrible loud noise that comes from the front of the truck. The truck is on stock shocks and springs, Max Trac lift spindle and RC lower strut lift 2" spacer.

I am thinking maybe is the fender liner being kinda frozen??? I have no clue. or the springs binding?

Noise is completely eliminated when i get home after its a little warmer.

My 15 sounded like that and my 18 sounds like that too. Not as loud. I’m not leveled or lifted on the 18, just stock and I have 15k miles. Maybe just poor quality shocks?

to me, that sounds like the squeak that an "aluminum spacer" level kit causes.

it's why my level kit is urethane.

The RC one i have didn't seem aluminum but like a really hard hard plastic.

RC has one that is black (doesnt tell what it's made of) and one that is red (Billett Aluminum).

if yours is black, maybe just lube the sway bar linkages at each front wheel..

Sway bar bushings.  My '14 used to do that when it was stupid cold outside.

Hmmmm could be. I’m doing a front and rear sway bar upgrade soon anyways so I’ll be on poly. So at least it will be changed

You can also just replace the bushings if you need to.

(unless your existing sway bars have an issue?)

I work for a company who is doing sway bars for these trucks so I will be using mine for test fit
