Engine swapp from a 1500 to a 2500

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what PK stands for.

They made both trucks in 1999. The 88-99 body style and the 99-02 body style with the LS based engines.

If you have the older truck body (OBS) then the 350 engine would work if that truck came with a 350 to begin with.

You could not put the 350 in the new body truck (NBS) that came with the 6.0 LS Vortec engine.

Do the front of the trucks look similar or not?

If the body and front end are noticeably different, then the '99 is a GMT800, the engine and the interior are controlled by computers that all work together, so it is non-trivial to get the engine/transmission from the earlier vehicle into it, and for the instrument panel/shifter to/throttle to display information about it, and to control it.

If they are both the same generation of truck, then it should be a straightforward swap (other than stuff like manual shift vs automatic).

Google "gmt800 truck" if you aren't sure if they are from the same generation or not.  If the '99 is a gmt800 (newer generation), then you want to find another gmt800 to do the swap with (probably from '99 to '02, as gm reworked the computers/wiring around '03).
