My son is buying my Avalanche and I need a new GM daily driver. I've looked at everything in the GM stable, and have narrowed it down to the Sierra Denali or Cadillac CTS.

My wife (who can't drive) loves the CTS. It is a bit easier to get her in and out of the car, gets better mileage, and takes up a lot less space in the garage. The CTS is very nice to drive, but it's not a truck. (She doesn't understand this "truck thing" I've had for so many years.) We already have a vette (which we both love) and I'd prefer to have a truck for our other vehicle. Since we travel with a wheelchair, the truck has more capacity to carry other cargo, has AWD for the winter, AWS, and lots of interior elbow room.

Yesterday we tried both and while she liked the smooth ride of the Sierra Denali, she absolutely loved the CTS. The Cadillac SRX may be a compromise of utility and luxury, is fairly easy for her to enter, and has an AWD option, but neither of us care for how it looks or the higher price. What to do?

I would say get the Denali only because if you are unsatisfied w/ the other two choices now you'll really be kicking yourself later on after you shell out a lot of $$$ for a vehicle you really did not want to drive.

I bought a Grand Prix between this truck and my last truck and after a month or two I really came to loathe the decision. Trust me, you will really start to miss having a truck.

I would say Denali too, as I need to have at least one truck in the driveway, however, even at $50k+, those CTS-V's are bada$$!!

The SRX is awesome, but expect to pay wayyyy more than $50k for that. My guess is somewhere in the $70's. But that IS the foundation for the C6 Vette.

I think you're confusing the $76K XLR (Corvette C6 derivative) with the $38 - $50K SRX (CTS station wagon). It looks like I'll likely be getting a CTS since it's easier to get my wife into it and she hates all the other choices.

Get the truck. You already have a kickass sports car. I think your wife would be happy with it too. Look at how many women drive trucks now. Just get the one with all the bells and whistles.

Personally, I would love to have a truck to go with my car, more room, more versitile, and all the things that make trucks what they are. If I were in the position I would buy the truck.

Edit: Who voted to sell the Vette?:dunno::mad:

Perhaps consider contacting GM Mobility. I know they have an 800 number in the product literature usually. Maybe you could have some type of retracting step rigged up on the passenger side to make entry easier for her depending on what you're needs/limitations are.

Good idea. I looked into this a few years ago. There is a company that makes power running boards that raise and lower - for about $6k! We use a folding RV step that she can negotiate when she's not tired. However, this limits us to never going out after 6:00 PM. I'd really like to also consider the crewcab Colorado, but they won't be out until after the 1st of the year.
