Horn honks 3 times after I enter truck and shut door.

Recommended Posts

For the past few weeks my truck honks every time I close the door in the morning.  I’ve had that feature disabled for months in the settings.

This is annoying because I leave before 5am and I’ve got a sleeping household to not wake up.

Anybody else having this issue?  Know how to fix it?

You leave your fob in the truck at night?  Just wondering if it is honking because it thinks you are leaving the fob in the truck.  I know my truck and my wife's car will honk if you leave a fob in the vehicle and it is shut off or you get out of the vehicle with the fob and it is still running.  I wouldn't think it would be an issue when leaving, but if you came home at 5am and left the fob in the truck.

Nope.  Keys are on me or hanging in the house.

Perhaps a software update that has resulted in some settings back to default?

Dunno. I set it back to on when I got to work and will change it back to off later. Maybe that will stop it.

Dead remote battery. It may not think you have it. Try placing it in the designated key pocket then open/shut door.

In GM cars it's always in the center console. Not sure if '19 and up offers bench seating and moves this?

Have it scanned to see if any codes are in the pcm or bcm,  I had one in a few weeks ago that did that and it had a code about shifting to park or something like that I cant remember what it was.  After the tech fixed the code the horn stopped.

They all have one. Those are NOT are the square spot in-between the front cup holders. It has a square pocket area inside the console. Owners Manuel shows t.

Hang on...

The 2020 owners manual CLEARLY show that the sierras with buckets have the spot in-between the cup holders and that with the bench and fold down, it is inside the fold-down.

Yep. Just like I said (I could have specified the jump seat console or jump seat storage). Thanks for the pics.
