Anyone try these 12" Navi/HVAC units (Linkswell or Phoenix Automotive)?

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a 12" touchscreen Nav/HVAC unit like the Dodge trucks have.  Either from Linkswell (http://www.linkswellinc.com/products/t-style-radio/2014-2018-chevy-silverado-gmc-sierra-generation-iv-t-style-radio/) or Phoenix Automotive Inc (https://www.phoenixautomotiveinc.com/collections/newest-products/products/px6-six-core-special-12-1-android-8-1-vertical-screen-navigation-radio-for-chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra-2014-2018).

Has anyone used or installed or have one of these?  What's your take?

I have heard that they are extremely laggy and lack support. And, in my honest opinion, are ugly as f*ck.

I posted some info on new headunits releasing this summer on here, I went with the pioneer one and will likely put up a thread on how everything turned out when I'm done.

I would 100% steer away from those units. Outside of the standard recommended head units (Alpine, Pioneer, etc.) I'd try and keep the stock. Those aftermarket units use (generally speaking) super cheap hardware that will continually slow down and the coding on them is generally pretty poor. YMMV and all that but I'd never put one of those units in my truck.
