Bed extender with MultiPro tailgate?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried using a bed extender with their multipro tailgate?  I know the extender is built in to the gate, but I am looking for something to keep the groceries in one place when the gate is closed.  The AMP ones all say "Excl multipro…"  I feel like they should work, but would like to confirm this before I buy one. Thanks in advance.

I installed an Amp Research Bed Extender on my 2020 GMC 2500HD Duramax AT4 today and it has the MultiPro tailgate.  It installed just fine with the MultiPro Tailgate, no issues.

Amp Research support told me it wouldn't work, and explained that they were worried about drilling into the carbon-fiber bed.  I don't have the CarbonPro edition (I think that only comes on 1500 trucks).

Anyways, I had the Amp Bed Extender on my '15 2500HD too and loved it.

Hope this helps.

Not all short box 1500's are carbonpro.

Carbon pro is not available on standard bed or long bed 1500s'.

Multipro does not require carbonpro.

I also got the AMP RESEARCH bed extender for my 2020 Sierra Denali with Multipro.  They make three different types.  Not sure if all work with the Multipro tailgate but I can confirm the AMP RESEARCH BEDXTENDER HD SPORT works fine

I think so.  It's been a while since I was researching but I do recall hearing something like that.  My 2020 does have the bar.  If I recall correctly, that's what caused me to get the HD Sport instead of the HD Max.  Can't say I miss that little bit of space gained with the HD Max.

Just installed the HD max today. Was going to take the grab bar off but made the install and alignment of my soft tri fold cover easier so I left it on. No issues with clearance but you obviously can’t use the bar with the extender in. I will probably never use the bar so I don’t care, but that must be why they list it as not being compatible with multipro/multiflex.

I know this is an older post but was wondering if anyone could provide pics of their bed extender with the "old man" bar installed. I contacted AMP Research and they said there would be clearance issues. I also have a Perragon cover and the bed rails extend 3.5" beyond the truck bed wall. I wonder if I will run into issue with clearance as well.

It fits but you can’t unclip and put the handle up with the bed extender folded to the inside of the bed.
