Can you put a 2005 transmission in a 2008 silverado

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 silverado the transmission is bad. My friend has a 2005 silverado that has a good transmission. Would I be able to to use that transmission

I do not believe so. The 2007.5+ trucks started using TCM's to control the transmissions on the 4L60e's and I believe the electrical side stuff will be different.

Don't quote me here but I think the 2007-2008 are even different than the 2009-2013's because of minors changes between the two.

You will likely need a valve body and controls from your year. You can chase part numbers at WIT.com and compare.
