Gamble on August incentives?

Recommended Posts

So not to beat a dead horse but... I sold my truck and now am driving a loaner car from my family. Laura Buick GMC has the truck I want. 2020 Denali Ultimate 6.6 gas for 9408 Off msrp (59352 + 100 dealer fee)  out the door before tax etc. Do I gamble on aug incentives or just bite the bullet?

The incentives now are strong, also if you have a trade its really valuable with the low inventory.

Case in point:

I purchased a 2018 6.2 1500 Denali (Ultimate) (17k miles) back in Sept. 2019 for $38000 OTD.

Traded it yesterday for a 2020 Denali Ultimate diesel 2500HD and $18700. Trade allowance was $42000.

Dealer fee was $399,  title and  taxes were approx.  $1300.

MSRP was $79905, Dealer discounted the truck  $11000 right off the bat. I then received the 1st responder discount of $6000 and the dealer cash $4000.

Go buy now as the auction prices have peaked.

You got your truck 21k off msrp and a above market trade allowance? Where did you buy? That’s seems absolutely unreal!

I agree, I’ve been researching and talking to many dealers for months now and I just can’t believe this one. If this is a real deal, someone got fired for it!

is this standard?

i just registered for it, but i don't see the discount value

The first responder/law enforcement/supplier pricing/Costco discount... is all the same discount. It is a pre negotiated discount that all gm dealers have to honor if you qualify. It varies by vehicle but on most of the new hd trucks it’s between 4-6k. On top of that you can add and customer cash or rebates that are available. Now where most people get confused is... the discount mentioned above is in place of any negotiation you do on your own. No dealer will discount the vehicle then add supplier pricing because those discounts all come from the dealer not the manufacturer. Rebates/incentives come from the manufacturer so those will be added on top. The notion that the previous poster got 11k discount which is about the most you’ll see advertised (6-7k dealer discount and 4K rebate) AND responder discount AND rebate is just not realistic unless someone at the dealership made a mistake and no one caught it. If you go to gm supplier pricing website you can build a truck and it’ll tell you what supplier pricing would be. Then add rebates. Some dealers will be a little below that if you look. The truck I’m looking at at Laura Buick gmc is actually 1600 below supplier pricing plus rebate. So it is possible to get more than supplier pricing but not by much.

That is completely possible. I’ve been looking real hard now that I don’t have a truck. You can probably get 10500-11000 off a diesel and 9500-10000 off a gasser. That’s about the best it’s gonna be till incentives change.

So its the same as the supplier pricing you say. So I just ordered a truck and that price is great, like about $6000 less. So if I go back to the dealer and tell them I can get the First Responder price they have to honor that on a on lot truck?

If you can prove/qualify for said discount, then yes that’s what I have been told by multiple dealers now. I am going on info from dealers so it may be on a per dealer basis but from what I know and what I’ve seen personally yes. A friend of mine is in law enforcement and just bought a 1 ton denali diesel and that’s how it worked for him as well. Supplier pricing also works for ordered trucks but you are gambling on the rebates available at the time of delivery. That’s why I haven’t ordered yet. I can’t leave 4-6k of play in my price.

If you talked them down 9k from their advertised price I will pay you to buy me the next one. I’m not joking. If you can get it for me for 21k off sticker I’ll buy it from you for 18k off sticker. That’s an easy 3k for you!
