Can I swap a 1979 GMC K1500 4”lift onto 1972 GMC K15?

Recommended Posts

I haven’t yet purchased the 1979 GMC and from what I can tell it’s a K1500. The ad has bad pictures so I’m assuming this based off of the mirrors. It would most likely have the 52” rear leafs which would match the 1972 GMC K15. I’m not sure about the front suspension. Mostly wondering if anyone knows if there is any possible way to swap the suspension. Or if it’s completely different. They’re both straight axels front and rear. Assuming that 1979 is a K1500, I believe it to have D44’s front and rear just like the 1972. My grandpa owns the 1972 and I want the 1979. But I’d like to buy a 6” lift and was hoping I could give him the 4” lift. Any help at all is appreciated!
