2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT U1510 Code

Recommended Posts

Hello I got a baffling problem with my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT with the 5.3 L and Z71 package in it. I got a U1510 code and U1501 code. The U1510 says it’s a LIN on bus communication issue. Now this was about the end of August when that happened. Looked at a few things couldn’t really figure it out and didn’t have the time to look because the truck seems to be running fine. About 4 days ago my service brake trailer starts flashing on my dash when I’m not even towing a trailer (the last time I did was about 5 days before this). Now I take it to my step father who owns a garage and has worked on chevys for years. Now the U1510 code is still  there when we scanned it but the U1501 code is gone but now on top of those codes there’s a U1037 code which is lost communication with trailer brake control module, P0562 which is low system voltage for Chasis Control Module, B127E code which is Front video display output signal, and C0800 code which is control module power circuit below voltage threshold for the power steering control module. The truck driving it runs perfectly fine, nothing abnormal at all. So thinking the trailer brake might be a separate issue we checked that out all the wiring etc and nothing wrong with it. So for the other codes we went and checked all the grounds on the truck thinking it might be a ground issue and all them seem to be good. We are starting to think maybe it’s a PCM, ECU problem because of all the random codes being thrown in every direction as well as codes in the system before disappearing. Any advice or help would be appreciated!!

Hey Nathan, did you ever find resolution to your problem? I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 experiencing the exact same symptoms and trouble codes. I've already replaced the two trailer brake modules, one by the spare tire and the other in the dash but still receiving a "Service Trailer Brake" message without towing. Also have 3 of the 4 codes you listed above. Dealer advises me to replace the battery cables but before I spend $$$ wanted to see if you had any luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nathan and Jeff, any resolutions to the problems you describe above? I have a 16 silverado 1500 z71 with the same codes going off, and truck driving fine exactly like you describe. Looks like you were being prompted to switch the battery cables Jeff -- did you do that and did it work?

I still randomly get a service stabilitrack or service safety restraint system once in a few months. I used to get them fairly often.

Replaced positive and negative battery cables, cleaned ground under passenger front fender liner and driver seat on frame rail.

More info here:

Guessing its a loose connection on harness somewhere...

hello gm-trucks commuinty i’m having issues with a smog readiness monitor not completing. any information on this issue would be greatly appreciated. my truck is a 2001 Chevy Silverado LS 1500 with a 5.3L v8 and it’s 4x2. all the readiness monitors complete except the secondary air system causing the truck to fail smog in california. i’ve heard the air pump turn on at cold starts and even replaced the passenger side check valve. also replaced the solenoid that sends vacuum. everything in the secondary air system seems to be operating properly but the monitor won’t complete. i’ve driven 100s of miles and done countless cold starts but no luck. even the smog referee said the system is working properly and i should just drive the truck more. anyone else experience this issue and what did you have to do to complete the monitor? there are no codes stored currently and the truck runs fine. thank you to anyone that helps

I have a 2022 trail boss lt that has about 6100 mile on it now. Bought it brand new in may 2022 and it seems like the drivers seat leans to the left towards the door. Almost feels like Im gonna fall out of it and no matter how I adjust it it seems the same. Visually it looks like it sits level and is fine. Is it possible something is broken inside like the frame? I would assume the frame would have to be sturdy. Is there any place that sell a better bottom cushion?

My l84 5.3 cracked some pistons now thinking of doing a light hone but wanted to know if it would even save the engine ? The scratches are pretty light my nail doesn’t get stuck but I do feel em. The pours on the other hand I’m not sure what could have caused those little things ?

Hello all, My Sway bar was hitting my CV axle, as the title says. So I crawled under some trucks at the dealer to see what stock trucks are like and it turns out that the new TB/AT4's have longer end links then my 2020 TB. The new end link has a 3 inch rod vs the 1-3/4 inch OE part.

The part number for the longer end link is P/N:85590925

Hello everyone. I've recently purchased a 2020 Silverado 1500 from a dealership. I found out late in the sale that the truck was used as the dealerships "loaner" which didn't really bother me even though I know people beat up those vehicles. Anyway, I'm pretty in-tune to vehicle sounds and I had a couple of questions regarding noises I'm hearing from my vehicle.

The first is a clunking noise and a physical jolt when I shift from Drive to Reverse. I have my foot on the brake and am on a flat surface. I notice it a lot after I've been driving for a while and go to back into my garage. I took the truck back to the dealership and they chalked it up to bad U-joints. They slapped 2 fresh sets on, but I've still go the issue. Any ideas what it may be? I don't feel like anything is going to fail, but I also don't like the sound and don't think it should be that way. I have another service appointment next week and I'd like to help them out with ideas considering they don't really seem to care.

The second is a ticking noise coming from the undercarriage. I' got under the truck today and believe it's coming from the rear portion of the engine, but I'm not for certain as I've never been beneath the truck while it's been on a rack. The noise cannot be heard when standing at the front with the hood up, but I can hear it very noticeably when standing at the driver's door. I do not hear it as the engine is heating up, but that could be because every other component under the hood is loud as h*ll while the truck is heating up. Once the engine is approaching operating temp, it's very noticeable. As you can hear from the short video, it's every .5 to 1 second or so and is always present during idling. Again, may not be a big issue, but I hate hearing things on my vehicles that I can't attribute to something else.

Thanks for reading my ramblings. I can try to post longer videos if anyone needs. Thanks in advance!
