My truck updated 2 days ago while I was at work.  I have never connected it to any WIFI systems and its not connected to any networks as far as I know, but the update still occurred.  I'm assuming GM is able to utilize a private internet host/provider to upload the software on our vehicles wirelessly without us knowing.

Mine updated November 3rd. When I gave it the okay it notified me that the truck would be inoperable for the duration of the update. No start, no shift, no nothing, and even went so far as to tell me to take my key fob with me as it could get locked in.

The day before the update I had problems with the stereo staying on for 10-15 minutes after I got out of the truck. That issue is gone after the update and my phone links faster.

Does the update come through On Star ?

Wish I knew how it works. Every time I get in truck I check to see if there is update available it just keeps saying no update available . I’ve been having the shut down issue with my infotainment system just shuts down and restarts. Also losing connection to phone when plugged in.

TSB #20-NA-199 How Do I Download Software Update Version U150?

If you have OnStar data services or connect to a wifi access point, your vehicle will eventually download the update on its own. If you do not provide some sort of internet connection to the vehicle it will not be able to download and access the update.

If you have some kind of connected service (OnStar Date or wifi network), you will be prompted to update your vehicle’s software in the near future. If you do not have the option of connected services, your dealer can manually load the update.

It may take several weeks for this update to hit your vehicle.
