Love my truck but, safety features?

Recommended Posts

I didn't want the safety package but it was the only truck on the lot that had the stuff I did. In hindsight I really like the blindspot alerts and the beep when backing up isn't as nice as the cross traffic warning that you're about to back out of the parking spot into someone coming down the lane.

How did you people back up at night before LED's and back up cameras?

very carefully ?

then we added LEDs and backup cameras!

although, things have changed. Its less of a difference in trucks, but with backup cameras being mandatory now and much stricter crash safety regulations seeing out of the back is harder now than it used to be. I'm surprised at how small the back window of this truck seems compared to my previous one, not to mention the back seat's head rests which block about 40% of the view, all the large opaque bezels around the rear sliding glass...my last truck had much greater rear visibility so its lack of a backup camera wasn't as big of a deal.

cars are even worse. it used to be that you could actually see out the back window of a car for reversing, now the "belt line" of a car is so high for crash safety that you can't see well enough to safely reverse without a camera. changing times!

Step one.

Reduce the lighting inside so that 'night vision' is improved.

(makes headlights seem to work better too...)
