Brake booster line is the best spot to me.

 

Or remove the air intake and use the rubber cap over the throttle body to smoke the intake manifold.

To test the smoke machine for smoke quality, you can connect it to any powerful device of your choice. I think it'll work either way because you don't need any complicated ways to do it. The question seems strange to me. But if you want a quality check on all the parts of your future device, you can open the quality of a part vs. price comparison program. This program will tell you if the device is worth taking or if you should hold off on your choice. All parameters will be displayed with comments about quality and price. That's how I bought my car, tractor, and many other machines.
