2021 Yukon Denali - no wireless Android Auto

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I purchased this car after hours of reading and watching reviews and it was pretty standard to assume this car comes with wireless Android Auto and apple car play.

However after hours or checking, couldn't figure out why I couldn't access this feature wirelessly. Anyways after checking with the dealer, they told me the batch they brought does not have wireless versions of Android Auto or apple car play.

I'm guessing the car must be equipped with it 100% hardware wise, and hoping it is just a matter of enabling it somehow through software or the infotainment system.

I wonder if anyone here knows about this issue and knows how to enable it.

Sadly I went back to the service center at the dealer and they said they couldn't help. Don't know if it's laziness or they actually have limited capabilities there.

Thanks

The 2 really sad things are, 1st I actually read this post, and 2nd, could it be more vague????

OP uses the term "car", so is it not a truck question on GM-Trucks.com?

And, even if it is a car, how ABOUT some information on what the hell it is????

Very, very, sad story🤔😬

I just saw this on another thread and it might help.

Thanks for this, I actually found an article on WAMS, just couldn't find anyone actually going through with the process.

I think I'll consider this as my last option. I think the moment I touch any hardware, the warranty gets void.

I was hoping for some sort of software tweak.

How did you find this post?

Did you read the title before you clicked on it?

You may have checked this but it’s worth mentioning. With the vehicle running, click settings on the infotainment screen. Next click apps, the top two choices are the ability to enable/disable Android auto and Apple CarPlay.

Yeah that was the first things I did. It's just a general enable/disable, it doesn't seem to be related to wireless feature aspect of it at all.

2021 does have wireless android.  If it's in my SLT , its def in your Denali.  You have to turn it on in settings like th eother poster said.

Our 2021 SLT has wireless AA. I haven't heard of any others coming without it either.

Unfortunately mine seems to be without it. It really doesn't make sense but the salesman said it was due to the region they disabled it.

In fact, it doesn't even have a wireless hotspot. So many features seem to be missing and honestly I've made my peace with it, except with the wireless android auto, since I actually use it quite a bit.

FYI, this is in Qatar (middle east).

Post up your VIN I'm curious and would like to take a look and verify what you're being told.

he is in the Qatar, are they not allowing Android Auto for some reason?

Adel,

That is very strange, it may be disabled by GM or at the port, however you do have it.  Perhaps someone can "jail break" it.

That's what I'm hoping for. Some sort of software hack/jail-break.

There is no such thing as it is not allowed here, that's why I came here. I don't really believe what I'm being told at the dealer/service center.

There are cars I've seen (from other manufacturers) that have that feature since 2019 here in Qatar.

I raised a complaint to the head office in the middle east, which is in the UAE, Dubai.

Just received a callback from them saying “this feature is of course part of the car but unfortunately Google has disabled the wireless Android Auto for this region, and due to connectivity issues, they only enabled wired connection”.

It was a long discussion, basically they can’t help and don’t seem to want to help me achieve this, so they are making excuses.

I don’t know how/why Google would decide to do that if the feature is there on other car manufacturers in this same region.
