I'm wanting to see if anyone can tell me if the size H8 battery will fit into the existing battery tray? 13.90 x 6.90 x 7.50 Inches. I know the height & width will, just not sure about the length. Any install one of these?

If not what about the H7? 7.50 x 6.94 x 12.44 Inches

I want to install a higher amp hour battery.

I believe H7 IS the standard size. I just recently bought a replacement battery at Costco and it was advertised as a 94R and H7. The H7 and H8 dimensions I came up with while doing a search show that the height and width are identical so that would work. Only length is different by 1-1/2". I will be honest that I'm not sure if it will fit and unfortunately I can't check right now to see if there is enough wiggle room.

It is a tight fit in there and squeezing anything bigger than the H7 will be a challenge at best.

Yes, with a minor modification.

I was curious about this and read this thread as my battery hit the bucket this morning.

I just went with the Walmart brand, I watched Project Farm's video and was impressed with how it held up against other brands and it's cost.

While I was there I pulled out the 94R, and was looking at the H8 which is just a bit longer and was the same price. After pondering for a minute, I made the call to give it a shot knowing I'll probably need to make some modifications.

I can confirm, a H8 battery will fit, but it will require you to grind the front and rear support that secure the smaller battery size.

It is definitely a tight fit -- With the front/rear support cut and smoothed out, I was able to get it in with loosening one bolt holding the adjacent reservoir. If you angle it towards the driver headlight, you can get it in with a firm shove.

I'm not concerned at all about it moving around, the back of the battery is resting flush on the firewall, and with the side support and battery clamp down -- It's in there very snug, firmer than the 94R I replaced. It has like a paper thin clearance from the reservoir. The connections were not an issue.

Tight, tight fit but glad I did it. I'm in Canada and my concern is the winter months, it is a peace of mind knowing I have that extra CCA(1105) when it's below freezing and 90 Ah for additional accessories.

This was done on a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500.
