Recomendations on where to purchase a GM 5.3 L83 Crate Motor. It seems like they are backorderd  for my 2014 GMC Sierra 5.3 L83 

 

ALSO I NEED TO KEEP IT STOCK, SO IT WILL BE SMOG LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA

Not a straight GM crate motor but to me a better option if it would work for you.

Why can't you have yours rebuilt?

Contact the dealer, they might have a part number for a long block that you can find somewhere else cheaper.

Any L83 from 2014-2018 will work.  19368175 is the GM reman crate and is on national backorder.

 

The L83 5.3 engines are the same if its "smog" or not, there is only one #.  Any emissions compliance parts involved would be the cat y-pipe and if the ECM is setup different for different emissions levels.

Those are LS engines, OP needs gen 5 LT L83 5.3.

Exactly what I was about to say. The engine it self is always the same, just the emission equipment is different.

 

If you can't buy a new one, just find a pull out from a wrecker.
