Navigation Map Upgrade worth it?

Recommended Posts

These updates are primarily POI's (Points of Interest) such as motels, restaurants etc.  As long I have had Nav since my 2009 CTS a road here is misnamed and its still misnamed on my 2021 Nav.  Years ago I pointed that out to someone  at customer service but they said the maps come from an outside source and there no way for them to provide corrections.   HERE Technologies is on my SD card

Can alway use maps while using CarPlay

I rarely use maps but if I'm around town I'll use Waze through CarPlay but on longer road trips I use the GM Navigation so I'm not using my phone data. The factory nav has gotten me around in Atlanta and Charleston fine though and I haven't updated mine since I bought it in 2020.

There are many options to use instead of factory navigation. If you travel through cell-phone dead zones, then maybe it's worth it. I know google maps allows you to download regions you're traveling to use without service.

If I’m driving more than 30 miles I use GPS mainly to avoid traffic jams. I have 2 vehicles with navigation. Useless , I use my phone and Bluetooth. Same with my entertainment.
