Refresh Radio issues with Favorites

Recommended Posts

I have a 2022 Silverado. I’ve been having issues with Sirius XM saying “loading audio” indefinitely when the vehicle is first started until I change it to another channel.

The other issues I am having is when trying to set a favorite the tab will just go blank. The favorite is set and can be pressed to play the channel, but it’s always blank. Pressing the favorite tabs also occasionally resulted in glitchy behavior. This seemed to only be with Sirius channels.

I had the dealer check it out, they updated to the latest software but it actually made the problem worse. Now favorites can’t be set at all and if you press one you just get “favorite is unavailable.” This is for both AM/FM channels and Sirius.

They contacted GM to see what to try next and are going to get back to me. Just checking to see if anyone else has a similar issue.

Have you tried to unplug the battery for a bit and force a reset?

Nope, it hasn’t really been something I’ve cared much about, I don’t really listen to the radio that much and if I do it’s only a couple of channels. I had the truck in for service so I asked them to take a look, hoping they would update the software and that’d take care of it.

I know this is an old thread, but it's the only thing coming close to the problem I am having with my NEW 2022 Siverado RST refresh. I can store FM stations holding the favorite button, but Sirius XM stations say "Favorites unavailable"

I’m still dealing with this.

After I posted this in September, the last thing the dealer said was they’d have to replace the radio. I assumed they had ordered parts and would call me when they came in but apparently not. They never called and I just kind of forgot about it because I don’t listen to the radio that much, figured I’d get it taken care of eventually. I was kind of holding out hope there would be another software update rather than have to replace hardware.

I had an appointment for a separate issue in early February so I asked them to revisit it. There was a new software update at that time which they applied. It put my problem back to where it was when the truck was new (prior to the first update I got in September).

The current state of the issue after that update is: I can set and use AM/FM favorites like normal. When I try to set a Sirius channel it sets to the tab most of the time, but the tab is completely blank. It does not display the channel name. When I try to press on the tab it just says “favorite unavailable” (90% of the time, some channels will actually work, seems like it depends on the channel and the day).

I let the dealer know, they took a look at it again this week during another unrelated service visit to confirm that’s true. They have now actually ordered the parts to replace the radio, backordered with no ETA.

Thanks for the reply, I hope your issue is resolved soon, and let us know how you make out. Searching for this problem i have come across some people that reboot/restart the system to fix some bugs. I also have a problem with XM not starting right away, or at all when starting the truck, but if I change the channel it comes on. Good luck with yours.

I have that also. If the truck is shut off while playing an XM channel, the next time I start it “loading audio” is displayed with no music playing. This happens about half the time and will sit there indefinitely until I switch the channel.

I haven’t done and kind of reboot myself, but I’m assuming the dealer has. I would guess that when they do a software update it reboots.

All minor issues I know. More of an annoyance than anything. Still issues none the less that I plan to make them fix. We’ll see how long it takes to get a radio and if that fixes it.

On my 2023 LTZ,  XM also shows "loading audio" has only happened very few times.

More frequently, XM loads and starts playing on startup just fine then for some reason stops playing when I put it into drive and pull away. Then there is a "play" arrow on the screen, I just press that and it continues playing.

No issues with favorites.

I haven't tried to save a favorite yet but I'm also getting the loading audio alot. I also fix it by changing the channel with the steering wheel button. Annoying. I was going to try a siriusxm refresh to see if that helps.

Try resetting the unit to the so called factory defaults using the Settings - System selection. Gm gives several different options for resetting the radio. Try them all and then phone SiriusXM and have them do a reset on that radio. Lastly, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and reconnect. You could even boot the radio into SAFE Mode like an Android Phone to see if it works any better.

So I went to Settings/ System/ Reset Options/ Erase Infotainment Data. It took a while to come back to life (Black Screen), and you'll have to put in all your info/ phone/ personal settings etc. BUT now I can set my favorites, and change channels with steering wheel. Not sure if my emergency braking was working correctly before did reset, we'll see if that changed anything.

Thanks I’ll probably try it tomorrow and see what happens.

On my 2023, I had similar issues with favorites and changing channels with the steering wheel.  I noticed when I switched to the Guest profile that everything was working correctly. So I deleted my profile and created a new one and everything works fine now. Seems like it’s an issue with the user profile getting corrupted. Thankfully, you don’t really lose much when deleting a profile since it loads all your Google data back when you connect the new profile to your Google account.
