Recommended Posts

I have 09 sierra 5.3 shows zero oil pressure...putting vehicle n limp mode...Guage works with scanner..veh has oil pressure with manual guage..2 new sending units..has power on two sides of plug in but no ground. I think thats the problem ..where does the ground supposed to come from.

You may need a new "O" ring at the oil pick up tube to oil pump connecting point. I have several posts on this subject. It's not hard, it's just a lot of work. I replaced my timing chain and sprokets since the timing chain cover has to come off, so you change the front crank seal, t cover, and oil pan gaskets too. I also installed a high volume (not high pressure) oil pump. Now I got 40 psi at idle on a fully warmed up motor.

What codes are you getting?  If a P0521, 522, or 523 (oil pressure sensor voltage), how is that putting it in "limp mode"?  Others have driven a thousand miles with a check engine light on steady and one of those codes stored.
