think it depends on the repair.  Makes no sense for them to have the vehicle unless they have the parts and ready to work on it, unless the repair has to be made before the truck can safely drive again.

Wife just had a recall done that was supposed to take a 1/2 a day but took 2.

hard to say without the informaiton given

truck has a minor exhaust leak according to the dtc code p2098 and the local dealers has a 3/5 day waiting line and they wont let me drop it off on the day of service i even set an appointment figuring that might work and all the appointment was for was me dropping off the vehicle

find another dealer, your truck is your livelihood and is your property not theirs. If another dealer isn't possible take it up the ladder to management then corporate

I've run into this twice now, once with our Explorer and now my 2500.  Several weeks ago our Explorer needed a recall.  So we made an appt. for it.  Took it in and left it.  3 days later it was ready and all they did was a computer update..... I was not impressed.

With my 2500 I made an appt. for 10am last Friday for warranty work.  Dropped it off at 9am.  They still haven't touched it.  And I thought Drs. appt's were bad.  They have nothing on the car service departments.  I attribute it to living in a big city that is majorly over populated.  Hopefully this isn't the case for those that live in the country.

You are on to something about the big city dealers taking longer... I go to a small town dealership and programming recall work has always begun on my truck within 5-10 minutes, and done in a couple hours or less. The exception being the shock recall that took 4 hours along with an oil change and couple other programming recalls I did not know it needed.
