Ignition switched 12 volt power outlet modification

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,
I’m new to the site.  I just purchased a 2023 Silverado High Country with 3.0 Duramax.  I was disappointed there is not a 12 volt power outlet in the cab. If anyone has been able to identify a circuit or fuse that turns on and off with the ignition I would appreciate any information you have. So far I have tested all the fuses in the RH dash side panel and at the fuse panel under the hood and all the fuses have constant voltage.  I need to have approximately 10 amps available to power several devices.
I thought about mounting the outlet in the upper glove box, but I could not figure out how to remove it.

TIA and I look forward to contributing any mods I make that may help others.

Are you looking for key on power only? On the right side instrument panel, there is a junction block.

There are pins, not fuses, that can be tapped into. You need #31, Retained accessory power ignition voltage. It powers up on ignition and stays alive  15 mins after shutdown. It is on an internal 15 amp circuit breaker that powers Acc power receptacle. I added a 10 amp fuse inline. Be careful where you tap in, you must know exactly what pin to use power.

I would suggest ALLDATA DIY subscription. It's OEM GM info, diagrams, technical service bulletins

Why would you send a PM instead of answering here where others can use the info!?

On the flip side of this, is there a safe fuse to tap into for full time batt power?

Forget the number but it's the TCM.  Think it's just below F40 (hard number to forget)

Still trying to figure out the switched power.  The ONLY one I can find is a 3 blade and I'm not 100% sure which one to buy on Amazon

You will need to file it down a bit to fit.  I used some sandpaper and took about 2-3 minutes
