Sounds like a square deal to me.

Yea i dont think the junkyards realize what they have yet. They charge $255 for the dssv vs $205 for the rancho. I just picked up a set of rear dssv for $180. When you look up the colorado zr2 though the prices are what you expect, like $700 each.

Wow. For those kind of prices I'd pick up a spare set.

If you sell the truck for some reason and don't need them anymore you could surely get your $$ back and probably make a tidy profit.

Theyre tough to come by, I had to search everyday for like 3 weeks. If there were a bunch id buy them up and sell kits on ebay 😉

After having installed the Multimatics I can safely say they make a dramatic difference.

Trying to get mine on sometime this week. You left the stock rear springs, right?

DSSV's are rebuildable and they are totally different than a normal gas charged shock/strut.

I've had that discussion with some Colorado ZR2.  They questioned that being they didn't know anything and I couldn't find a rebuild kit for their DSSVs.  Regardless, the math doesn't make sense.  I'm you replace shocks at the recommended 50,000 interval, but your shocks are 1/10th the price of the DSSVs, it would take over 500,000 miles for the cost difference to make sense.  This doesn't even take into consideration the cost of rebuilding DSSVs.  Who here is going to keep their truck 200,000 or even 300,000 miles?  I'd love to 1,000,000 miles, but I don't think I'd live that long at 15,000/year.

Depends on where you get the DSSVs. I just bought all 4 for $700. All 4 ranchos are about $350. So I just have to rebuild them once to be even, and in the meantime the level of performance is night and day. The dealer keeps trying to get me to trade my truck in for a new AT4X...for what? I can swap the struts and front transfer case and have everything except the updated interior and save $50k.

Wouldn’t have the lockers.

Yea, you can swap the front. I prefer the auto locking that i have but if you wanted you could swap the rear. The front locker only cost me $780.

Whole diff or just the front locker?

Whole diff. You have to add a switch of course to control. I'm going to try to incorporate it into the stock toggles.

Yes, I kept the stock leafs on. I didn't want to monkey with my tow rating.

If you're talking about what I think you are, you got your DSSVs via the junk yard.  Nothing wrong with that.  Just a matter of time until the junk yard figure out what they have.  Iirc, that's been discussed in another thread.

Just trying to figure out why?  What’s the TB kit get you that you need other than lift blocks?

Its a CYA thing I'm 99% sure because the Trail Boss kit has those frame/bumper crash compliance brackets that are supposed to be installed.  They alter the impact point down 2 inches or so to keep the truck "legal" per FMVSS rules/NHTSA and IIHS crash compliance.

Meh.  Legalistic BS.

Still trying to figure out why anyone would pay for the TB kit and then the ZR2 kit.
