Frame body mount measurement

Recommended Posts

I need to do a frame swap on my truck. I have a 2000 2500 extended cab with an 8ft bed. Vin is 1GCGK29U0YE350124

Can anyone tell me what the body mount measurement is? I see my wheel base is 143.5. Beyond that can anyone tell me what other frames would be compatible when I'm looking around. Does a crew cab short bed work or not other trucks like sierra or something and a year range? I'm having issues looking things up myself. Thank you all in advance

You'll need to find an extended cab, 8' box frame, at least from a 2500,3500 GMT800.  It'll need to be a 4wd frame if your truck has 4wd.

reg, extended cab and crew cabs all have different body mount locations.

I have no idea if/how the frames varied over time, or if they are different between gm & chev.  From replacing body panels on my '04, I've found that earlier parts may have missing holes, or braces, or welded on nuts, that the parts that came with my truck have & used, and that newer parts may have/use holes/braces/welded on nuts that were used on newer trucks, but were not used on my truck, but the part was backwards comnpatible (so if there was something used on my truck, it was present on newer parts, even if the truck they were originally from didn't use it).

You might hit up a dealer, or online used parts places, to see what they say about frame compatibility.

Thank you both, I will go to that link on my pc, hard to navigate on my phone. And I I've tried to look up online for compatibility but they want that last number for the body mounting holes. Guess I can look and call them to see if it's the same set up and if it's not I know I have the other option lol

Your options are quite limited.  You have a non HD 2500, so for an extact matching frame you'd need 99-03(maybe at the most) and non HD 2500.  You "might" be able to make it happen on an 01-06 2500 HD frame as well, but that might take some extra work as the HD trucks, the bodies sat 2 inches higher.

Also, extended cab 8ft box is NOT a 143.5" wheelbase.  Your wheelbase is 157.5"

I think its time to go out west and get a new, rust free truck to replace yours with.
