Hey All,

I was drivin' a long yesterday and noticed my odometer roll over 165k miles. Current mileage is 166678. I got a 94' Silverado, so that puts me at 16667.8 miles a year. Yearly mileage sounds pretty average, but 166 is a lot. What kinda longevity should I expect with a very well taken care of TBI 4.3L? Quarter million?

with my '88 5.7L i had 292,000 miles when I replaced it because all the gaskets were shot and it was leaking 1quart every 2 days. burntt a little oil but still had the nuts to pull a 5000lb boat around

I'd expect 200K at least...that is if you take care of it. I've got 120K on my 01 Tahoe...that's almost 40 per year. I'm hoping to get around 225K out of my Tahoe before updating.

Hoping by then I can get a 2500 Suburban with DMAX/Allison. Now THAT would be one fine vehicle for towing with the family!

Maintenance is the main point. For a well taken care of vehicle it has plentyof life left.

my 2000 silverado 5.3l has 104235 miles,i guess i will have to keep it for a while..

My dad's 1984 GMC High Sierra with the original 305 just turned over 390K miles. He's had the tranny rebuilt about a year ago, and overhauled the engine at 275K miles. Even though you can look from one side of the bed and see out the other, it's been reliable. Next time the engine needs rebuilding he's going to put a GM crate 350 in it. That'll probably be around 500K miles. Chris

The Z-71 has 106,000 miles and I bought it in July of '99. Roughly 30K per year. Still runs like new and looks great as well. The Yukon turned 13K tonight and we bought it on September 12th.

I had 160,000 on my 91 350 when I had a 383tpi out in.

It wasa still going strong, just wanted more power. My

tranny dropped reverse & OD at about 135,000, though.

before i sold it my 93 sierra ext cab had over 234,000

and didn't smoke or use a drop of oil.

looked great too, got 9500.00 for it

my 2000 has 136,000 now and i'm shooting for another 100k

with the help of mobil 1 and good gas

Gots an 01' Sierra Z-71. @ 136,000. Still going strong. Not one bit afraid of driving 6hrs somewhere non-stop. Lovin' Life.
