Iv noticed over the past week or so that every time I cold start my 2021 gmc sierra 5.3 it makes this weird sketch / whining sound for about 2 seconds when cranking then goes away. Only on cold starts it makes this sound. If I go out and start the truck after driving it does not make this sound. Anyone else experience this problem or knows what it could be. It’s driving me nuts my truck only has 40000km.

Normal.  Engine oil pump "rrrr" or "rasp".  Its due to the gerotor design of the oil pump.

My '09, the '14, and my current '19 all do it (all with 5.3's, although they are not the same 5.3's obviously).  In fact my '97 Suburban with 5.7 does it as well.  I had that one looked at by a dealer as it was in for a leaking intake manifold gasket and it was reported as normal.

Yup. Agree with the other posters, nothing to be concerned about. Annoyed yes, but not concerned.
