I have an 03 Silverado LS w/ the CD & Cassette player. i didnt get the XM option, is there a way if i bought the tuner & ant, is there a jack behind the radio to plug it in? or do they use different radios? Secondly i didnt get the bose option either, but a friend of mine has it and it looks like the same radio as mine. i would like to add a amp/ sub and was wondering if that radio has RCA pre-outs in the back.

You will need the wiring harness for it and also the XM module, antenna and a BCM reprogram. All in all its not worth it. But, if you want it to look factory, go for it.

I have the Bose system, got it because I got a good deal on that model. Personally, if I had my choice, there's no reason to pay for it. You can do far better using aftermarket systems for the same cash and have better quality. I haven't ripped mine out (yet), but the speakers are the same paper cones and whizzers like every other speaker GM and the other OEMs use. As for the radio itself, there's minimal equalization options and features. But like Flodine said, if you want the factory look then go for it.

JimG, I have the bose radio in mine and want to keep the factory look. Is there a plug in for this radio for XM? The OEM radios with XM, is it built into the radio or mounted somewhere else?

Yes, you have the XM plug opening in the back, but you do not have the xm wiring harness, module or antenna. The GM system has to be installed right, so the antenna has to be put in the roof(cut your roof up) and the dash would have to be removed just about entirely to run the harness. Do what you want, but its alot of $$$$.

Flodine, Lets say I went and had an aftermarket XM installed. What would they have to do to make it work if I kept the OEM radio? Do they still have to tear apart the dash just to plug in the harnas? If that is the case I will just live without it. The thought of some snot nosed ya-hoo doing that kind of work would lend me to believe my dash would rattle the rest of it's days.

You can get your dash off in about 3 minutes flat....Well...That's if you stop and take a break. I can get mine off in about 20 seconds.

It's easy to do, and I doubt that they would screw anything up.
