Question about remote starting and engine heater?

Recommended Posts

I want to install a remote starter in my 2000 Sierra.  It's been cold here in Anchorage, below zero, so I plug my truck in at night.  I use a timer an it's set to shut off about 20 minutes before I leave for work but if I remote start the truck from inside it will still be plugged in.  Will this damage anything in the electronics?

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you are using an engine coolant or oil type heater, which just puts some heat in the engine so it will start easier, the remote starter should have no effect on the heater, or vice-versa, as long as you remember to unplug the cord, nothing will be harmed.
