Pickup up my Av Today!

Hey Guys,

Been reading this forum for a while and haven't posted yet.  Today I traded in my 2000 Silverado ext. cab for a Pewter Z66.  I've got to say that I'm very pleased with the ride and handling so far.  It's in another class compared to my x-cab.

Anyway, I've now got to get a few goodies.  First off, does anyone have any good pics of the GM Av bug deflector?  I've done some looking around and I've seen the Lund deflector for about $55 (free shipping  )

Speaking of goodies, I've also got to get rid of some stuff off my old truck.  Is anyone interested in a Borla dual rear exit exhaust for a Silverado x-cab?  This was the system on Tom Byrne's old Silverado project vehicle.  I'll be selling it pretty cheap so just e-mail me if you're interested.

Great board with a lot of useful information.  Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the board. How much did they give you for your 2K Silverado. I'm thinking about a Crewcab HD pretty soon and want to know if they're giving a good amount for the trucks.

Congrads on the new truck! You'll love it I'm sure.

Beware the Lund aftermarket bugshield for the Avalanche. I found out the hard way that the OEM bugshield is the way to go when my dealer ordered me the aftermarket one by mistake.

The two shields are externally identical (both are made by Lund); however the aftermarket shield has the Lund logo in one corner (OEM shield has no logos). They both are no drill installs, however the OEM shield adds some weatherstriping under the front center of the shield and uses double sided tape and screws to attach to the hood...the aftermarket shield is screw on only.

The other big difference (and reason I swapped to the OEM shield) is the aftermarket shield is noisy at highway speeds. The OEM kit adds double sided tape that goes under the windshield mouldings and keeps them from chattering due to the new airflow over the hood.

The aftermarket shield comes in a full color box and does not include the tape for the windshield moldings; the OEM shield comes in a plain brown box and does come with the extra tape.

I've had the OEM shield on mine now for a few months and it's been trouble free.

Hope this helps.

Pendlum-

The trade-in on my 2k Silverado wasn't great (about $2k under blue book trade-in).  They did come down $5,000 off the sticker on the Z66 though  :D .  I probably wouldn't have traded if not for our 8 month old little girl.  The x-cab was just too small for our needs.

Also, let me know when you get the backup sensor kit ready for the Av's.  I've already noticed the need for some kind of backup aid.

Thanks for all the compliments.  Once I figure out how to post some pics I'll get some up.

jpendlum,

I traded my '00 Silverado on my 2500HD crewcab in June.  They gave my wholesale for it on trade, but that was dealing against GM Supplier price which put the HD at or just below invoice.

I think on paper I got $22k for my trade.  The truck was LS 4x4 excab all options including 40/20/40 power leather split bench.  It was not a Z71, but had the Z85 suspension.  The truck had 4300 miles on it. (four thousand three hundred miles).  They listed my old truck for $24990, and sold it in 2 weeks...
