Didn't come with Keyless Entry

I have a 98 with all power, but when I bought it, the car didn't come with an owners manual or anything except the keys. Can I just buy a Keyless entry remote for a 98 silverado off of ebay and program it? I saw a write up on how to program a remote, but I don't know if my truck has the wiring harness.

I think you need to have the code AU0 in the glovebox in order to have a remote work with your truck. If you don't have it, get an aftermarket alarm/remote entry/remote starter...

I have ae7 and au3 but no au0. so does this mean i can' just buy the remote? if i can't just buy the remote then screw it lol. to much money for me right now. I have a '02 by the way.

CaZca, you have the split bench (AE7), no listing for AU3 using your 2002 as the vehicle. I change to a 2001 and I get electric door locks for AU3. You'd need to add a remote entry module, doubt it can just be plugged in if you buy a GM one, I think you'd need to go aftermarket. Just buying the remote won't get you anywhere...

The keyless entry is cheap about $50 with shipping from anywhere, but you will also need to buy an interface for the computer, another $50 to $75. I just went thru it with my 04. But it does work great. You DO NOT need to pull the door panels either, I broke mine before I knew that or posted here Good luck.
