2002 Steering Wheel and Speaker questions

Hows it going,

I just gave my beloved '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9LTD with lots of offroad goodies to my dad and picked up a 2002 Sierra SLT extended cab Z71. My truck has 28k on the odometer and is in mint condition. I have a couple of questions though.

I really REALLY miss the steering wheel audio controls that my Jeep had, and can't understand why GMC didnt include it on their loaded, over 35grand trucks. I have found a steering wheel from a 2002 Denali that matches my interior and includes the auxilary radio controls. If I get this wheel installed, will it be an easy plug-and-play operation for the auxilary controls into my radio and they work correctly? I have the system consisting of CD player in the head unit, little cassette player down in my console, and OnStar if that matters. If not, what other parts would be needed to make the steering wheel controls compatible?

Also, I think the "woofer" speaker in my front passenger door is on the fritz. It looks to be one woofer/one tweeter in each front door. Any suggestions on what to replace the front speakers with other than stock? I looked at some component systems at crutchfield, but most of their tweeters look way smaller than the stock unit. I'll probably end up doing the back doors as well along with the front.

Thanks for any and all help,

Clay,

I can't answer the steering wheel problem...but the stereo thing is a different matter. I changed the stock speakers in my 03, and at the same time added 2 10" Subs under the back seat. I used Polk Audio speakers in the front and rear. I DID NOT change the tweeters in the front doors. Since I was adding the Subs, I used bass blockers on the fronts, hooked up 50watts RMS to all and everythings fine. That's been over a year ago and the tweets still tweet perfectly.

d**n, kinda pricey dont ya think? I can get a brand new, never used Denali steering wheel w/ controls for 1/5th that price, and the tan leather matches my interior better than my current black wheel to boot. Is it just a matter of connecting wires to the back of my radio or is there some other necessary component between the control wiring and my head unit?

Thanks,

Clay
