synthetic oil

i put synthetic in my vette because gm recommended it. i know the pluses. but, i dont think i am going to put it in my truck because conventional oil has never done me wrong. i use valvoline all climate 5-30. anyway, i was curious as to how many of us use synthetic.

I use regular Valvoline oil also. This is the 5th vehicle I've used it in. Never had a problem. Dad's used it ever since I can remember.

i use Mobil 1 in both of my trucks cause i'm probably anal,

but i know guys who use Valvoline and Castrol w/regular

changes. they are hitting 200K without problems.

I'm using Amsoil 5W-30, Amsoil oil filters and Amsoil air filters in both my truck and my wife's car. The reason I changed is the added protection and the extended drain intervals.

I have used Mobil1 before on a Volkswagen car and although it did lower the temp and seem to make it run smoother the oil still gets plenty dirty.

I don't think you can leave it in longer just because it's synthetic so in my mind that makes it cost more then regular oil changed every 3000.

I have used Valvoline and change every 3000 and havent had any problems. Had one car till 110,000 one to 68,000 and another till 115,000 alll were sold and continued on.

I think I'll stick with regular oil. Now the question is which is the best regular oil???

Have used Mobil 1 in all my cars and boat for seven years.

Switched to 10W-30 Mobil 1 at approx 9K miles in '94, '97 and '99 K1500 burbs. Change @ 6K. Have had no need to top off between changes. Oil stays light honey color on stick until approx 4K.

I use Mobil 1 because of the everything I have heard about dino oils from my buddy who is an aircraft mechanic.

There are so many more benefits associated with running synthetic oils.

Just had the first oil change done at 2,000 with standard Valvoline 5-30. Next change at 5,000 will be Valvoline full synthetic 5-30, as will all the rest. Just my usual practice.

Mobil 1, 10W-30. I also plan to switch to Mobil 1 in the diffs, and research if there are synthetics out there that are appropriate for the tranny and transfer case.

I did my first oil change not too long ago and went with Mobil 1 tri-synthetic. Ill tell ya, it was hard to justify the extra $20 or so (i spent 15min in walmart contemplating), but i think it will be worth it in the long run IMHO.

I've always used Mobil 1. I used it in my VW GTI and now in my truck (5w-30). I also buy the motorcycle stuff Mobil 1 15w-50 for my quad (the stuff is like $7 a qt!). That made a big difference in temp and how smooth it runs....
