98 k1500 ball joints

I have to put ball joints on my 98 K1500, uppers and lowers.

Everywhere I call they ask if the lowers are welded or forged. Which do I use?

Is this just a preference or is it necessary that I choose the right one?

How do I know which one to use? Any feedback would be very helpful. Thanx

maybe they mean rivoted or pressed in? Anyhow you can see the rivots near the lowers if they have them. You could jsut buy both types and return the wrong ones.
