cruise control question on 04 burb

Mine feels more like a stumble for lack of a better term. It's done it since new. Never gotten worse/better. It does it the most notable on steep declines after about 3 to 4 miles. I haven't had time to hassle with the dealer yet. I think it's either a flakey sensor and or frimware in the ECM. If you're in OD when you sense it, shift down into third and it will really buck.

Let me know what you find out. I can't find any TSBs on it.

My drive train is: 6.0L, w/4L80E 4:10 gears 4X4

My pickup does that as well. I have heard of someone having their computer flashed at the dealer before. Let us know if you decide to take it in. I usually just cut off cruise on long hills.

I know exactly what you're talking about. My 2003 xcab/5.3/z71 did the same thing. Verdict is still out on the 05, but it has an Allison. ;)

I have not seen that on my truck. Maybe it's a lack of big hills out here in the flat lands, though. I'll have to watch for that.

Scott here again, thanks for the input guys, has nayone asked the dealer about this, maybe its normal. Im going to the dealer today to replace bad speedo after 18000 miles I will ask, but we all know they love to say (dont worry thats normal).

Anyone out there who might know about this CC problem please speak up.

My '04 Tahoe 5.3L does the same thing on downhills. Has done it since new and now I have 7K on it. Let us know how it goes with the dealer. We all might be in there at once!

Well guys here's the good news and I guess it makes sence. The service tech even printed it on my invoice all official. Its normal for the cruise to do that, what it does is enguage and disengauge the tranny. So leave it be. GM states thats how there newer style CC works, and I guess it does cause it does hold the speed. just dont like the pulse.

hey there, mine does this also...my dealer said the same thing...but if you noticed it will hold the speed very well even on a pretty steep grade...as you said, makes sense. Later :chill::withstupid:

I think it still stinks. My manual tranny Cavalier does not pulsate like that. Of course they are two totally different vehicles. Heavry vs. light, manual vs. auto and 4WD vs. FWD. I guess I will just have to get used to it.

I drive a diesel so I don't know if is the same system or not but from 03 and up the throttles on the Vortec motors are now "drive by wire". They no longer have throttle cables, so the cruise is probably a whole different system. So far all the effects of DBW have been negative: Torque Management, cruise control issues, throttle responsiveness. Why change something that is already mastered?

Well......it isn't right. Not the way mine jerks. I guarantee if a prospective buyer was driving a new rig on demo and it did what mine does there is no way they would buy the unit..

I am still puzzled by what causes my problem. Last Saturday when i tried it at a very predictable point in my route it was very subtle. The outside temp was 34 degrees. It will be intersting to see if it is temperature dependant.

My problem is definetly in the transmission. You could not duplicate it by varying the throttle.

It will do it if I am not in Cruise Control also.

Somewhere in GM land an employee knows exactly what the problem is. They are aware that component A and component B have a compatibility problem.

To bad GM doesn't do better job of moderateing this sight. Or, if they do no ones talking.

I hope this thread stays alive long enough to get some input from '05 owners.
