I'm going to change my rear windoew to a slider. Does anyone have an opinion to witch one would be a better choice: the CRL brand or the OEM.

Please list any known problems with either one.

BB,

You will be allright with an OEM now,When they first came out with the "New-Body-Style" trucks in '99 they had problems with the plastic frames cracking,I know because I went through four of them! They finally came out with a redesigned window in the summer of '03 and I got one put in my '99 and had no problems with it for the last year I had the truck, I have had no problems with my '04 also so I think they fixed the problem! :withstupid:

The CRL window has a metal frame and won't crack at all, we put a few of those in here at the dealership for customers that had the old style "cracked" OEM plastic frame window but for some reason I just never cared for them. So I personally would go with the OEM window. Just my .02 :chill:

I bought an OEM one in 2002. the plastic cracked within 3 months and it leaked in the rain. I replaced it with a CRL and haven't had a single problem since.

The OEM one in 2002 was still the old original design window, all the OEM ones available now are the new design window and as I said earlier we haven't had any problems with them. Just make sure your getting part #12498123 which is the "Deep Tint" window.

"Silverado 4x4" did you go back to your dealer for a refund or replacement? Since only 3 months went by it would have been covered under warrenty.

And your right on target as far as 3 months goes, that about how long mine lasted before they cracked.
