Black Z71 Tahoe Owners

Just was wondering how your grill is holding up if you have the painted grill. Anyone have a closeup picture of it? What exactly is painted? Just the bar going through the bowtie?

Why I ask is my current grill needs to be changed. I have a grill insert right now and it is starting to rust. I need to take it off but I will have drill holes. I found a black primed tahoe grill online for $78 (Dealers are like 300-400). Shouldnt be to hard to paint it. Just wanted to know how it held up

Thanks!

Here is a not so clear image of the grill on the wife's Z71 Tahoe... The entire grill is painted except for the bowtie... So far it has held up great, but the truck is only a little over a year old...

I'd take a better pic for ya, but I'm working nights this week and will not see the truck in the daylight until next week...

If your still needing a close up pic on Monday, let me know...

Hey Ryan, I don't have any current pictures of mine but it is a 2001 with 93,000 miles on it. The grille is holding up fine. No chips, peeling, etc. I didn't know it was actually painted. I thought it was just molded colored plastic.

Thanks guys. Thanks for the pic James. I seen a maroon tahoe today after work and got a good look.

I am just wondering how the black would go with my blue truck

Any thought?

So the grille isn't painted right? I don't think it would look good IMO, sorry.

No its primed. That means I will be painting it

Ours is holding up great. Of course ours is wrapped in 3M Scotchcal also. :chill:

The grilles are a bit different. The chromed "crate" is grey plastic--very similar to the grilles on the new Silverados.

Ryan, I think painting it blue on yours would look great. :withstupid:

As was suggested, why not paint it blue? Otherwise, I might look for a chrome grill...

I'd definitely paint the grill to match the truck, especially since your rig has the "good" front end on it (imo). Mine is an 04, and is growing on me, but I still like the 99-02 best, especially with the grill / bumper painted, sorta like the Z71 Tahoes and Suburbans.

I had my mirror caps painted blue and I could never get it to match the color of the truck or each other. I changed to black a few yrs ago and I really like it. Goes good with the black flares/nerf bars/grill guard
