tlocus Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Hey guys, New here, just got a 1999 Silverado Z71: I've been thinking of getting some running boards (I kind of like the tubular ones) but open to any suggestions ;) ...I have no idea where to start looking or how to mount them, any help appreciated. thomas
facn8me Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Looks good. Some nerfs would look good. Actually some black ones would blend right in.
04-silver Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Nice truck I would go (and I have ) the tubular ones. I believe they are quite easy to install, 2 bolts each side My .02, you might want to think about mud flaps and hood shield. If you really want to sparkle the truck, get the Zaino kit or similiar, get some beer and schedule a whole Saturday aside. John
budhayes3 Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Nice truck, it's in great shape! I agree with 04-silver about the mudflaps, definitely helps save the paint. I got mine back in 99 right from the dealer (GM Accessories Catalog)
quiksilverz71 Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 That is a clean looking truck, good find!!! I think the black bars would look the best too
tlocus Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 Hey Guys, Did some minor upgrades. Added Bug deflector and some black tubular nerf bars. Next probably add the mud flaps. And.. Sorry about the quality, the sun/my camera made it a little dark and the trucks dirty thomas

Nice ride! I recommend the Westin or Go Rhino! wheel-to-wheel side bars, personnally. I have the Westin's:
jerneedog Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Very sweet looking truck you have there. Did you install the nerf bars or have a shop do it? I installed mine, it took my father and I just about 30 min to install it. I went with the Polish Stainless Steel bars to go with my bed rails. I like the look of the black bars on yours. I'm looking into a grill insert for my GMC and then down the road...maybe some tint. What else you have in mind for yours?
04-silver Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Lookin good tlocus If and when you get mud flaps don't buy those cheap plastic things Window vents (chrome? see below) might not be bad, atleast on the big doors. Just a thought here, with the chrome mirrors and colour of your truck I may of went with a chrome hood shield/deflector, John
tlocus Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Thanks for the comments. I went with the black westin tubular bars (for ext. cab 3 door) I installed it myself, took about 1 hour (also added anti seize to all bolt threads). All you guys have some sweeeet lookin' trucks 04-silver, do have a part number/manuf. for the mud flaps? Are they GM made or other? thanks again, t
jerneedog Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 I'm thinking of getting some mud flaps as well. I've been looking at the Husky Liners Molder Mud Guards.
USA1Fan Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Those Husky Liner mud guards look like a good quality set. I went with the GM factory molded guards (for trucks w/flares) on mine though.
04-silver Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 My mud flaps are GM I think, those we're one of the throw in items to complete the deal.........lol. Sorry no part number. They are about 1/2" thick rubber with a chrome/steel plate on the bottom half, no logos though. Here's a couple of pics just to give you an idea what I talking about, you won't be wanting the one for the duallies............( Apparently that pic came along for the ride.) You should be able to find this type fairly easy, maybe Wally Mart might have a good set. One more thing, stay away from Home Depot, their shopping carts attack new trucks...................... John
SnakeEyeSS Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I've nenver seen that two-tone combo before, was that factory?
