99 Silverado Part # Verifcation

I've done searches on both AC Delco and Parts America and GM Parts Direct.

GM PD seems the most accurate, but also the most money (which is odd, considering the usual good deals).

Just need to know what part number the U Joints are for a 99 Silverado extended cab 4x4.

Unfortunately, I don't know what driveshaft I have, and that seems to be the deciding factor.

Just wanted to toss this out there to see if anyone else has replaced their U Joints themselves, and if they know the part numbers off hand

Thanks

I have a '99 GMC 4x4 extendacab and I replaced mine a couple of years ago. I bought mine from an auto parts jobber, UAP I think. The GM ones do not have grease fittings and I wanted grease fittings. I paid about 1/5 the price compared to GM parts. My buddy is the parts manager at a GM dealer and he said all U-joints are made by a few different manufacturers and GM just marks them up a lot more than everybody else. He actually told me not to buy them from him.

If you want the GM ones, just give the parts guy your VIN and he will know which ones you need.

For the front of the rear prop shaft part#12476135,and for the rear of the rear prop shaft part#12476136.

I agree with Indy,I would not buy ones from the dealer,I would buy ones that have a grease fitting in them.

I would hit a NAPA or Car Quest for U joints.. I have also been happy with Parts America stuff (Advance Auto), The parts that count are good ones so far. Funny Story with parts america, I replaced the wires on my Daughters Saturn, the box was motor craft, but the wires the exact OEM wires, right down to dephi stamped on the boots.

Just to follow up.

Called up the local dealer, and he quoted me like 75 bucks for both front and rear U Joints as a kit. He then said to go to Napa and get them for like 12 bucks a peice, cuz theirs don't have grease fittings :D

So off to Advanced Auto I go... got one for the rear (rear diff) for 10.98. with the grease fitting.

Unfortunately, I changed it out, and found out that I also have a rear driver side wheel bearing going and that my rotors are as rusty as a 1981 Nissan thats been sitting in a salt bath for 10 years.

So, time to change those

Thanks for the info
