Trailer Brakes

I recently had to install an electric brake and 7 pin harness on my truck. Well the bumper plug I bought used the 4 pin to plug into it to control the lights, so that waqs easy. I was dreading wiring the truck for the hot wire and brake wire until I talked to a old friend who told me a little secret. 1996 and up have the wires already there, they are not in plug form, but they have been run. If you look under your bed for the wiring harness, in the center are the ground, and turn signal wires, on the drivers side of the truck find the plug and follow it towards the front of the truck, when you see the harness get thick, cut the tape away, you will see the orange and blue wires, orange to the constant hot pin, blue from the brake controller. Now for the front of the truck, go to your brake booster and look directly underneith. You will see the Orange and Blus wires, open this harness, connect the Orange wire to the fuse center, and rune the blue wire inside to the controller.

Just thought ya'll would like to know!

Where you able to find the pin that connects to the brake light switch? On a '98 I went through with a voltmeter checking all the pins on the panel under the dash until I found one that went to 12 volts when the brake pedal was pushed. I saw a diagram somewhere that showed where that pin is but have forgotten. With my '04 HD it was just a matter of plugging in the control harness.
