yes my name is sc1 soria i was wondering if any body knows how many salsbury steaks can fit in a 2500hd shortbed pickup. i would like an amount that does not stick up above the bed rails in sight of possible thiefs.

Would these be the microwaveable ones, or the ones you have to cook in the oven?

I've been thinking, a cheap plastic or blow-up pool would fit nicely in a 8' box, fill it with ice and beer and we would have a party. Leave it towards the back so you could drain easier (make sure your parked with the cab upwards). Then i believe there would still be nice room for a bbq grill in the front. I never realized what a party machine we all have!

Actually a small blow up pool will fit in a short box jsut fine. I just moved but I have pictures of my 94 sb with a pool full of beer and ice. We drove to a family picnic and my cuz and I sat on the tailgate drinkin beer. It can easily hold 5 cases of beer, and yeah we had some soda too.

hey guys i didnt mean to get all this ridicule, i was going upstate to take advantage of a federal low income foods program, only instead of cheese they were giving away salsbury steaks. i was going to break the cased down and try to transport as many frozen patties as possible. this could keep food on my table for quite some time.

So are these in single serving boxes with some air space, or in bulk? Your extended cab short box bed is 6'-6 long, and about 5' wide minus the wheel wells. So you have about 30 square feet. The top of the bed is 18 or 19" above the floor. If the cases are 1 ft by 1 ft by 18", you could probably fit 25 or 30 of them in there if you stand them on end.

In any case, you will have no problem with the weight. You could throw a tarp in your bed, and fill it with water, and with it full you'd only have 45 cubic feet of water. Using 62.4 pounds per cubic foot, you'd have 2808 pounds in there. Your rated load capacity is around 3500 pounds.

The steaks, even if packed tight, will be lighter than water. If there's a lot of air space, you're probably only talking 1000 pounds at the most.

You could fit one 2000 pounder.

I saw that the other day.....

Notice how the suspension on the 2500hd doesn't squat at all, even with 1 ton of meaty goodness in the bed. Impressive indeed.

I would suggest a tarp of some sort for this haul.
