I know Im a sucker, but I just read a new Car and Driver with an ad for you know what ?? Yes its the Tornado again. They have all these cars and trucks listed with before and after MPG some 3 MPG more. If its just a cookie cutter , how are they not getting sued. Hey with 275 per gallon its looking tempting.

Because in the fine print they usually say "results shown may vary from your results" or "under labratory conditions", you know....Something along those lines.

They're crap. If they worked, they would come stock on your truck.

GM Engineers aren't stupid people that sit around all day racing their chairs. They don't design multi-thousand dollar, incredibly complex "displacement on demand" systems that will give you a net gain of around 3 mpg when they could drop a $10 piece of plastic in there for the same purpose.

They put out 1/2 and full-hour info-mercials late at night to sell you the product, convince you that you need it. If the product was all it was cracked up to be, it would sell itself!

I looked on web for the product, they have pages of testimonies of people who just have been over joyed with the MPG increase and power. I know I know, just kick me in the head, but all the things Ive done to save gas have done little, Im pulling at straws but I need MPG at these prices. Like the other guy said, lets have somone try it. Maybe we could each pitch in 5 $ and have somone install it and tell us. I would rather spend $5 and find out it was a joke then $50.00.

what do you think guys ?

I had a friend try one in an Expedition and he lost mileage....... I would think there would be some restriction thus causing some inefficiencies not gains.... But what do I know...... :driving:

If you really need an increase in MPG like you say you do maybe you should look into another vehicle... lets face it we drive trucks not 2500lbs toy cars with littel 4 cyl. engines in them. I moved up to a 2500HD from a 1500 this past year and love the truck... the MPG is a bit worse, but I expected it so not a big deal. I have been thinking about getting my PCM tuned to help the MPG, but in all reality I do mostly city driving so I do not expect to see much gain from it, but the gain in performace might be worth it .

Every independent scientific controled test of all these magic fuel savers have shown that they don't work. Consumer Reports tested it and found no improvment. The EPA tested a similar product called Cyclone-Z a few years ago and found no improvment. The FTC has not gone after Tornado yet but they just did fine the Fuel Saver Pro (magnetic) for false claims. Besides all of that as an engineer who has worked in the automotive indusrty, I see the science behind this stuff is just crap.

That magnet thing blows my mind. I read it works by pulling the inpurities out of the gas and holds them against the magnet.

Well tell me if I am wrong, but it goes on the fuel line, so it would hold them in the line, and eventually build up and cause a clog. Even better, you remove it when you realize the magnet doesn't work, and all the concentrated impurities rush into an engine like a chunk of fat in an artery!!!

Last time i knew they didn't do angioplasty's on trucks!!

It may work in an old carbureted engine when it's placed in that big round air filter. But our trucks have 'vortec' heads which swirls the air anyway. Anything else in the intake system would just cause a constriction, in my opinion.

The irony for me is that because of this Tornado product, I started searching the web for reviews/information to see if it could really produce the results it claimed. In the end, I found this site and now find myself looking at the forum posts at least 3-4 times a day.

And...because of this forum, I took the money I would of wasted on a tornado and put it toward a custom tune from Jesse... it's still to soon to see the increase in mpg... I can't keep my foot out of it. :P

...My carpool buddy still gives me crap about even thinkin about buying a tornado thingy... I wish he'd get off my case... :driving:

This post has me thinking too much..

Here is the link for the BBB report on them. Their really isn't a massive amount of complaints on them. I would think you would see complaints listed if it didn't work right.

Read this article, the bottom of the article seems to point out that it actully works!!
