When GM Releases a TSB...

Recommended Posts

Is there any responsibility with the dealer or with GMC or Chevrolet to contact truck owners and inform them of a TSB?  I hear people inquiring about them and it seems like if you are not "in the know" on finding them on the net, then you are lost.

I believe GM only contacts owners for a "recall" or safety related item.  A TSB is basically an acknowledgement from GM to it's dealers about a potential problem that could occur with some vehicles, and it describes the symptoms and explains how to correct the problem, so the dealer is able to quickly take care of it for the consumer.

TSB's do not require owner notification.  RECALL's do!

Basically a TSB can be anything from an acknowledged problem that exists......to a simple technique that makes a service task easier.

Just because you have a pile of TSB's does not mean you have a heap...it more than likely means that there are a bunch of them on the road.

Most tsb's only affect a few vehicles, some affect ALL in a given category.

Look at the GM A/C odor problem....If you never have it...great.  If you do, they will put a heater in your duct to dry out your evaporator core.
