Custom tune with a manual tranny

Might be a stupid question but here goes - I've been considering a tune but since I've got a ZF 6 speed in my truck, I'm not sure it would be worth it as it seems the biggest advantage of a custom tune is what they do for the tranny shift points / firmness. Since that does not apply to me, I don't want to waste money on a tune that will only compensate for larger tires & other small changes.

BTW - does torque mangement affect trucks with manual trannies or is it built in to trucks with autos for the purpose of saving the tranny / TC ???

I don't know personally, I still got a year on the warnety, but think it's been said on here that they do. This I do know, If I'm playing, and stomp it, I get the fealling a power band kicks in. pretty freaking when 10-30 sec after you get on it that the back tires break loose.

Rascal, I haven't noticed that with mine. When you stomp on it, are you already up in the 3k rpm range and 'then' it lags before cutting loose? Or do you apply the stomp while cruising in the lower rpms (I could understand the lag effect here)?

I'm wondering if that is TM?

BTW - I see in your sig that you're a Beagle man. Good dogs. We've got a female about 7 yrs old. Sweetest thing in the world. A little dim but super sweet.

IMO, a manual will reap the same benefits of a performance tune minus the TM. I would hafta say that you manual guys have the TM under your left foot! (Lucky #%*&@~+!!!!!!!)

Two advantages I think you (standard shift) would still notice.

Removal of the abuse mode. Your truck is "fly by wire" even when you floor it the throttle doesn't open all the way all at once. Get rid of that and you can really feel your power.

Fuel economey will improve. Tunners will map your fuel flow, leaning it as much as possable. This will give more power and better economey. Tunners will also alter the lean cruise mode so it comes on quicker and at lower RPM this will really increase your mpg if you do lots of freeeway driving.

If you didn't have the 6 speed you would have the Alison and the Alison has its own control unit and the performance tunes do not envolve the alison trans as it was explained to me by Lyndon.
