MP3's on a CD....

Wondering if I can burn MP3's to CD and play them in my wife's 03 Burban (and my 04 Crew Cab). They are both the 6 disk CD changers with XM radio.

Buy yourself a Cigarette lighter FM Modulator ($40) then you can plug your MP3 Player or CD Player into that and listen to your MP3s on your stock CD Player.

It won't play. You need an in-dash mp3 player, which are few and far between. Some mp3 players only play mp3 CD's, some have a hard drive and you can upload tunes to them.

A lot of aftermarket are MP3 capable, it is an easy swap. You can get one better than the stock unit for under 150$

Dont think so..

Should have bought the $12k Aveo if you wanted to do that

Or a Colorado like mine. The MP3 CD player is really cool. For example, I have six full Led Zeppelin albums on one CD and there's room left over. It does folders, so I can go to any of the albums, etc. I REALLY like this capability.

Similar to the capability in my GP. REALLY glad I got that option. Almost as good as having a 6 CD changer in there, if not better (no discs to move around, the laser just has to move).

My uncle's Colorado LS came with the mp3 player. . . I had to show him how to use it.  And I agree, It should have been standard a long time ago.

Got a pic or model # of it? Think of how many songs you can fit on 1 cd....cd quality songs...probly 100+. Lot less shuffling of cds. Dont get me wrong I like my 6 disc changer, but it would be sweet to not have to change any cds for the long trips

I don't have the part # though can get it. As far as a pic... it pretty much looks just like a regular, single CD radio except it says "MP3" in big letters right on the face. If it didn't have that you probably couldn't tell it from the non-mp3 radio. Oh, and it has "FLD" buttons for moving through the folders.

I just purchased a 2006 gmc sierra 1500HD and the factory radio with cd player does play mp3's that I have burned from my system to cd. Im not sure if they are still in mp3 format or not (havent popped one into the computer to check).

Did you burn it as an audio or data CD? How many songs could you fit? I can put 6 albums on a CD and listen to them in my MP3-capable radio. This is compared to the typical 74 or 80-minute CDs. You need to burn as a data CD I think, burning as an audio disc burns the files as CDA files and you can only get 74 mins. on the disc.

An FYI for those that have this type of radio, it WILL play from a CD-RW, at least the one in my Pontiac will...
