Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on lifting a 2wd single cab short bed 6". I'm concerned about tire and whell size (i'd like to go with 18" wheels), rear end gearing, tires rubbing when steering, new drive shaft, etc. Any advice would be appriciated.

Just wanted to respond to your questions. Here are some pictures of my 2000 chevy silverado 1500 2WD. If I were you I would stick with Fabtechs new 7 inch crossmember. Stay away from the 6 inch kit. The 7 has so much of a better ride. As far as i know, the shop had to do new break lines, but kept the old drive shaft. I have stock gears in the back, whatever they are. I plan of changing them out for a set of 4.11's or maybe even 4.56's. The ride on this truck is awsome! Not to many jolts and jerks going down a dirt road. The tires are 35X12.50r17 Mickey Thompson 'Baja Claw'. I got those rims for cheap ($300) of ebay. No rubbing with the tires from lock to lock. I did have them rub once. It was my fault though. I had the wheeles cranked all the way to the left and i went over a ditch. I know, my dumb fault. Well good luck with your lift.
