I felt pretty sad and helpless as I read that. It's not good news.

Sad thing is that we can all see the handwriting on the wall for Delphi. The buyouts, or the strike, neither are deserved. These workers have had enviable jobs with higher-than-market wages and benefits for many years, and it's taken its toll on GM. Well that seems to be over, one way or another.

It'll be interesting to see how the union spins its raping of GM as Delphi goes down.

Yes it is sad to see GM changing like this. I for one, refuse to buy that Jap Crap. And before someone argues that half the parts on my GM may be made overseas, that may be true, but its still the Heartbeat of America. No Japanese Piece of Shi* will ever replace it as far as I am concerned. :sigh:

C'mon folks, WWII is over. Let's quit fighting it. American auto makers have done it to themselves with mis-management, shoddy products, and by allowing unions to get them by the ba**s. Until the owners of these companies figure this out and stop the crappy management practices, up quality, and put a leash on the unions, they'll continue to suck hind t*t financially.

First and foremost I agree...100% american and i dont really enjoy buying/using foreign crap...but the reality is that everyone in here probably buys/uses foreign made crap all day everyday

I gotta agree with Sam. This is a global economy and yes, many GM rigs have foreign parts and many have foreign assembly. Many Toyotas are built right here in America, by AMERICAN workers.

GM needs to get competitive cars and better management practices and the idea the the company "owes" the union worker anything is a thing of the past. The company owes the worker pay that is equivilant to the duties that he performs, nothing more.

Look at the transit union in NYC screwing over every small buisness owner and common buisness type in that city at the absolute worst time of the year! They could give a rats a## either, i hope the city of NYC fires every last one of them and rehires people willing to work!

Unions helped build this country yes, but right now they are doing a damm good job of trying to destroy it!

GM would not be in the dire straits it is today if they would have ensured that their product was top notch. The same can be said for all domestics. Instead they have major design blunders ( piston slap, clunking drivetrains, irrradic cruise controls, paint falling off, etc) and have never made an effort to rectify them to the consumers satisfaction. Just issue a tsb calling it normal. As such buyers are going elsewhere. Toyota used to build junk, but today they are building some of the highest quality vehicles in the world and standing behind them. As such it shows in their record profits and sales, all with little or no purchase incentives. I personally like the style of GM trucks but this is my last as I won't hold on to it once off warranty with all these issues of which there is no fix.

Hopefully GM will figure it out and again build quality trucks and ensure customer loyalty for which it was known for in the past.

Like former Mayor Koch said " The transit unions have done in one day what the Taliban Terrorists have failed to do, And that is to cripple the NYC transportation Sytem.

Without a doubt General Motors and it's stock holders have been paying a very High Price to stay in business. To me, it really comes down to product, and how it performs. GM has a hard time selling cars to the same person Twice. Granted they have done better with Trucks. It really comes down to how much you , the customer is willing to put up with verses the benefits you get out of ownership.

If you read the forums, why as owners do we have to fight GM to fix stuff like steering wheel clunks, motors that knock, Drive Trains that bump and thump, Anitlock brakes units that fail, tailgate cables that break, Wheel bearing assemblies that fail and cause the brakes to come on? Is it really up to the owners to have to work with government to force a recall? It's the same stories over and over. The executives continue to collect very large salaries, without any real vision or drive for the company. They really need to either focus on the customer better, or just build better cars and trucks.

You can call the Toyota's Jap Crap, but they get a customer, and they keep the customer. It is far cheaper to keep a customer then have to win one for a sale. If the product was that bad, they wouldn't be able to sell them unless they used big incentives? Oh wait... that's the only way GM sells cars. The paradigm needs to shift again for American executives to stop using these companies as there own person fortune, and stealing from the stockholders.

I'm back-lol

I agree...Chevy has their problems...but i must say, they are no where NEAR the problems Ford has...or even better...a Dodge.

Every F-150 my dad has ever owned, had a major problem. Wiring (Famous Ford Wiring), brakes, engine, wheel alignments, and poor interior craftmanship (drive a 97-03 F150, and come tell me the chevy's are cheap)

I wont even go into Dodge...my dad has owned 2 Dodges his whole life. Maybe its just coincidence they were both rolling piece of garbage. The fact that he bought in 1995 a brand new (factory ordered) Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 318-V8...and had absolute nothing but problems.

-The tranny went... at 1800 miles

-The engine was replaced twice.

-Unknown hard vibration at 50...no one could figure out why.

The truck was repurchased under the lemon law. However, i see many people online face the same dilemas with their Ram's...and Dodge just says "thats the way it is"
